Scrubs
This is definitely something you won’t need, either for the face or body. All you need to do is mix some sugar with your face or body wash to get a good scrub. But even that is too much. According to one of my favourite and most trusted online dermatologists, Dr. Dray, the water pressure from the shower head is more than enough to remove any dead skin cells. But if you’re looking for that super smooth feeling, you can just use some salt or sugar from your kitchen. Icing sugar is particularly mild and does the job too. You can keep it in a jar by the bathtub or just fill up a cup right before you hit the shower. It saves you space in the bathroom and most of all, money. Besides, most physical exfoliators, whether they are on the expensive side or not, are mostly based on salt or sugar anyway. You might as well take a trip to the kitchen instead.
Body Brush
Again, according to Dr. Dray, those body brushes with bristles only move bacteria around. If you have any spots or even a skin condition like psoriasis etc, and you move the brush up in circular motions towards your heart as you've been told, you will only spread that infection further. I guess girls like to do it because it has an invigorating effect but 5 minutes of exercise will do just the same and even more. Ultimately, dry brushing doesn't sound like a very hygienic thing to do and you might want to replace it with a wash mitt under the shower.
Face Halo make up remover pads
Now I don't get this product and there’s no need to double check with a dermatologist to confirm my suspicion. I got a pack from Halo and they actually claimed that you only need water to remove all your make up. Now who actually believes that in 2025? Since when is only water enough to remove oil and make up from your face? I still don't know how they get away with this false promise but here they are, pricing this miracle product at a steep 18 pounds for three of those micro fibre pads that really shouldn't be more than 2 quid. I tried it and of course it didn't remove a thing, only smeared it around at best. So frankly, save your money or get a cheaper alternative to use in addition with a make up remover product. That might well do the job.
